I was actually going to wait until I got our professional pictures to get this thing started. But 5-7 weeks sounds like it’ll go by really fast. And, as we will, tomorrow hit the five-weeks-from-the-wedding mark, I am not really certain if it feels like it’s flown by or if it’s dragging. I know that I am literally DYING to get those pictures.
Anywho, I feel the need to get started and to introduce myself and my minions… erm… family.
Meet the (fairly) new Mr. & Mrs. Short. I’ve gone ahead and used our real last name. Not only because the title of my blog is just oh-so-clever (get used to this level of “clever,” the bar isn’t going much higher) but also because you can go ahead and Google your heart out, there are enough Shorts in the world to feed a small nation.
I think I’ll just dub him BF for boyface. Because that’s what I call him. Also, BF is for boyfriend, which I am still kind of excited to have even though he’s my husband now… Don’t judge me. And, why not I’ll go ahead and be M, because that’s what my first name starts with.
I am a 25 year old woman who grew up visiting museums, making things with her hands, and writing insatiably. As an adult, I have a Bachelor’s in Art History although I work in Property Management. I suffer from chronic writer’s block. And I just finished a year of 90% handmade wedding. Creative outlets are now a necessity to my sanity. I am trying to find a routine that makes a home for my small family amidst a very busy world (and with a penchant for laziness). And that is what this blog will be mostly about. My misadventures in cooking, crafting, baking, and homemaking.
Speaking of SMALL and FAMILY. Meet Bo.
Bo is a boy dog, regardless of headband in previous picture. Bo is also (clearly) a long suffering dog who lets me put things on his head and then take pictures.
Case in point… This is not the last of these pictures, sadly, I have more…
Bo is a cardigan corgi/black and tan coonhound mix. Don’t ask us how that situation was accomplished, I don’t even want to consider the possibilities here. Bo has little man syndrome, the Napoleon complex if you will, and he is just full of contradictions. He is as curious as he is terrified of new things, he is as laid back and sweet as he is territorial and dysfunctional. And, as you can see above, both patient and obedient as well as stubborn. Let me take a moment to plug Petfinder.com and Homeward Trails who brought Bo to us. This is a good time to mention that I am HUGE rescue pet advocate. I absolutely adore dogs- mine, yours, and everyone else’s.
Yeah, I’m one of those. I like to talk about my dog more than I do people things…
I think the rest of our story will develop naturally. Right now, I am sitting on the floor between a pile of clothing and two RC Jeeps with a glass of cheap, sweet white wine in our tiny apartment after downing an entire box of Kraft Halloween shaped Mac & Cheese (I’m aware it’s February, this stuff doesn’t go bad… quickly…). This is what has become the new norm for us: a stage of transition. We are hoping to buy a house soon, to get some more room for our mountains of stuff and for the pup to run around in. B is packing up some stuff (and putting on multiple jackets…) to make it a little easier. He is also playing a CD that I found in a Walkman in our closet. A Walkman? Seriously? We’ve lived here for two years, I’m pretty sure Walkmans (Walkmen?) didn’t make into the 2000s. I’d like to also point out that Microsoft Word did not mark Walkman as spelling error.
Well, the hockey game is on. Signing out!
